I/We intend to provide a homeschool education for my/our child(ren) that includes instruction in the required designated subject areas. According to the Illinois School Code, these are:
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Biological and Physical Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Fine Arts
- Physical Development and Health
This educational program will be in compliance with Section 26-1 of the Illinois School Code, which recognizes homeschooling as a legitimate form of compliance with the state’s compulsory education laws, provided it includes instruction in the aforementioned subjects and is taught in English to children between the ages of 7 and 17 years.
I/We understand that it is my/our responsibility to ensure that the educational program provided is at least equivalent to the standards of education taught in the local public school.
I/We further understand that this Letter of Intent does not imply an obligation by the state or local school district to supervise or monitor my/our homeschool program.
